DTFriday: Le Debut & Le Call To Arms

Welcome to DTFriday! or for the acronym challenged "Down to Fuck" Friday. For those who don't know me personally yet, let me outline something.

I. LOVE. PORNOGRAPHY.

And I want to share this love of it and sex through the information cesspool known as the internet. Every Friday, I will bring you what has caught my attention in the wonderful world of porn/sex/naughtiness/(insert debauchery here).

For shits and giggles, I decided to see if anybody else had this concept. And low and behold, after consulting the Oracle known as Google, someone beat me to the punch a little over a month ago. If you want to save 2 minutes of your life, skip video for blunt summary. If you are really pressed on time, skip to the very last paragraph. If you could, read this in its entirety:

Those two guys want to make you laugh.

I want to make you horny, amongst other things.

Not going to do a counter introCuntion video. On account these two haven't been keeping up their weekly promise, I feel obligated to commandeer the series name.

With that aside, this week I am spotlighting none other than Bike Smut (www.bikesmut.com). This is a film festival incorporating a love of sex plus transportation by physically powered wheel machines (machinations?).  Led by Reverend Phil, this group has been traveling for several years not just nationally, but also across borders to Europe with hopes of Mexico on the horizon.

For the month of December, Bike Smut had a number of showings across Texas, with several right here in Houston. The ever welcoming Super Happy Fun Land (http://superhappyfunland.com/) is where the first Houston showed occurred. Although the car gods prevented a timely performance, those who stayed were treated to a lovely batch of concise smut films from the comedic to the serious. The custom film adventure ride was followed by a Q&A session with the audience, an act that has grown to be a favorite of the Bike Smut crew.

If you missed out, I am sorry to say there are no DVDs available. These films can only be seen at these live showings. This is because a number of the entries come from people with creative energies that can only be expressed in the safety of this community. One who not only condone, but advocate for sexual creativity. An admirable action of the group is their willingness to remove any film from future showings by a submitter's request; an important point I hope you remember for today's closer.

Something discovered at the Q&A that first night at Super Happy Fun Land, there has never been a submission from Houston. This is an outrage! I want to channel said outrage by calling out all creatives in Houston to create the first Bike Smut submission from the city. Professional camera man has already been recruited, meaning I can play a guitar with a wah-wah pedal and come up with titles while getting my hairy ass filmed beside a bike. I would rather there be more people in front of the camera than yours truly. If this is something you are at all interested in, email me at revrexjames@gmail.com with the subject "BIKE SMUT". Include in body how you would like to participate (i.e. be in front of camera with or without clothes, idea generation, etc.) and anything about yourself you would like to share, such as love of bikes and talents.

If you read this post in it's entirety, thank you for staying towards the end. Looking forward to hear from those of you wanting to create Bike Smut.

Best,

Rev. Rex James

First Performances Come and Gone

Should this post have been made sooner? Absolutely. But things came up, there is no editor breathing down my neck with deadlines... thus I will write when I feel like it. Deal?

Since opening this blog, two tributes to Bill Hicks have been completed. And it is entirely thanks to the good people at Bike Smut (http://www.bikesmut.com/) during their time in Houston.

To the one woman who was actually laughing during performance at Notsuoh, thank you. To the one who called me out on changing up Reagan quote same evening on "It's Just a Ride", I thank you too. The unscripted explanation for change during performance I think you were satisfied with.

As those who have read first post are aware, my goal is to raise $50,000 over the next 12 months for the 50th birthday of Bill Hicks. Over the last two shows, a grand total was raised of not $50, not $100... it was a whopping $0. That's right, zilch, nada, Z-E-R-O. Entirely because I did not feel comfortable asking for donations. So sue me, first night at Super Happy Fun Land was a rough performance admittedly on my part (although people seemed to enjoy it more than Notsuoh) , second night I was called away to other commitments.

Either way, I sincerely want to thank Cactus Music (http://www.cactusmusictx.com/), Josh (Twit: @CynicalHouston) , and Houston Picks (Twit: @BestinHouston) for spreading the word on first Bill Hicks tribute. To those who weren't public on support of show, I want to thank you too. We'll see what happens in the year to come. Now to stop preaching and salivate everyone's palate on a series that will debut on Dec. 30 (DTF ridays). Let your imaginations run wild and stay tuned...

Best,

And so it begins...

Allow me to give a proper introduction. I am Rev. Rex James. Native Houstonian who has recently took to social media. Music lover, porn advocate, drinker… would say more, though memory is failing me now on account of the last point.

A startling fact has become very clear the last few months. A vast majority of citizens have no idea who Bill Hicks is, Houston included. Yet people know Denis Leary and find him funny… IT’S NOT RIGHT! It is even more depressing Houstonians don’t know Hicks, on account that he got his start doing stand-up here. And we are not just talking teens not knowing him, who were born around the time that Bill died (coincidentally, same day I was born, different year; thanks God, that was a great fucking present). People of all ages that I speak with have no idea who he is, yet when they hear his philosophy it is always a resounding “How have I not heard of this guy?!”

I am on a mission to fix this. Starting tonight, I will begin doing a series of tribute performances to the legacy of Bill Hicks. Wherever I perform the only request that I will make is that I be able to pass a collection plate to the audience to raise money for charity, with emphasis on “feeding, clothing, and educating the poor”. At the end of each performance, money will be counted and at the show it will be announced how much was raised. It will be posted here to recap and show where money has gone. I will say there is a sentimental spot in my heart for “The Beacon”, having been homeless multiple times. Check them out here http://www.chomhouston.org/

In honor of Bill’s 50th Birthday on the 16th, my goal over the next 12 months is to raise $50,000. If you believe in the mission and know of any interested venues, send them to this page or have them contact me at revrexjames@gmail.com . Thank you for reading. Hope you are able to make it out to Bike Smut Houston, 9 PM tonight at Super Happy Fun Land 3801 Polk Street to catch the first of many tributes to come.
